What Is The “ONE THING” We Must Do To Inherit Eternal Life?

Posted by on February 10, 2011

In this day and age; I believe that the message of Salvation is being watered down; and not hitting the nail of “Inherit Eternal Life.”

We have too many professing Christians out there who are going to have a rude awakening when they stand before the Lord on Judgement Day.  They are talking the talk but, they are not walking the walk.  They have not let God into their heart.

Without  God in your heart you are powerless to change in any way.

Only God can change a ” dead heart into a living heart;” a “heart of stone into a heart of flesh;” and a “rebel into a worshiper.”

Being a “good person” and doing “good works” does not get you into heaven.  Ephesians 2:8-9…For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,  not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Giving and tithing is a wonderful thing…It will bring us many benefits and blessings. (This is one of God’s Commands)…It will not get you into heaven.

Malachi 3:10… Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.

There is much mis-conception about the wealthy.  Many believe that it is easier for the wealthy to enter into heaven.  On the contrary…It is almost impossible.  Being wealthy isn’t the key here…It is the attitude of your heart.

Matthew 19:24… Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

Now I want to talk about the most widely used; yet confusing avenue of salvation…Repeating a prayer.  I know I am going to get a lot of controversy over this; but please hear me out.  Saying the Prayer of Salvation is only the starting point.

Romans 10:9   If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

This is a very powerful word…However…Why are so many christians still stumbling in the dark, not producing much fruit and seeing change?  It is because they have skipped over the the second part (most important).  As I stated earlier:  Without  God in your heart you are powerless to change in any way.

Recognizing that you are a sinner and that you need the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior is your first step.

One Thing… That will guarantee you Eternal Life is: (drum role please)

You must…Abide in Him… Have a “one on one”, personal, daily relationship with Him, through His Word, Worship and Prayer.  Your heart must be receptive; fixed; steadfast and hungry for God.

When you stand before Him on Judgement Day; Don’t think you can fool Him. He will know whether or not You Know Him.

Galatians 6:7   Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.

If you do not truly Know Him…This is what He will say to you:
Matthew 7:23  Then I will tell them plainly, “I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!”

You need to search your soul and ask your self this question?

Amen and if only people would wake up and realize that we are living in the end of time – they would make things right and get their life in order. Thanks for the post and Amen again

How true Linda your writing “One Thing” is not what Linda says but clearly is God’s word shining like a Beacon in a darkened world. As Christains the “enemy” will continually attempt to cloud our vision and steer us away from the things that God would have us do in particular, keeping his commandments. I count myself a sinner and need the Grace and Love of God through Jesus Christ daily. May the light of God’s word shine upon me in full measure

The word of God is very clear on this subject. I have always said it is not about what you believe, but rather who you belong to. Our faith journey is meant to be a walk with Jesus, each day becoming more intimate in our relationship with Him. Thank you for this wonderful post.

You always bring it right at the top, never waiting until the end of the post to shell out the goods.

Thank you for being you Linda and for sharing so freely as you do!

Dear Linda please keep the good work up people are going to get upset with the truth but we can not hide the truth because if we do we are allowing the devil to win and we are helping the devil win so please keep telling the Lord truth no matter how mad people gets
